Reunions came and went--several East Bay alums made the voyage back to Northampton for days of nostalgia
and (re)meeting friends.
Smith alums (and one current Smithie!), family, and friends bundled up to watch the Oakland
A's vs. Cincinnati Reds for a surprisingly exciting and high-scoring game on Wednesday, June 9th. Thanks again to Lynne for
organizing the event.
Book club met on Wednesday, June 23rd to discuss Play it as it Lays by Joan Didion at Kate Funk's house.
Thanks, Kate, for hosting!

We had a great hike and BBQ potluck on Sunday May 16th! Alums from Smith, Penn, Columbia, Harvard, plus
friends, family, and dogs trudged up and down the sometimes-steep Rim Trail Loop around the Lafayette reservoir, then relaxed
in the luxury of the Girtler's patio, eating pasta salads and chatting around the grill. Many thanks to Andrea for suggesting
the idea and hosting the afternoon!
Thanks to Lynne for mailing us our tickets to the baseball game!

The annual potluck held in Berkeley on 9/28 was, as usual, a pleasant
and delicious affair in a lovely setting. We formally voted in Sherrill Lavagnino '84 as our new club president and Mary Stapleton
as our treasurer/membership coordinator. Many thanks to Gretta Mitchell for her home, Eleanor Clark and Kay Shen for organizing
the potluck, and Lynne Withey for helping everything come together for the past three years!
The board is delighted to welcome Nancy Spaeth as secretary and
is still looking for others interested in helping with admissions/recruitment, planning events, and producing the newsletter
and website.
The bookclub met last month at the Claremont Hotel and enjoyed
interesting discussion and ponderings about Jean Rhys' Wide Sargasso Sea. Although perhaps in reverse order, the
club is reading Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre for next time... see the Book club page for details.
